First: what is Groq, and why are we asking?
About Groq

Who: Groq Inc. — a US-based AI infrastructure company founded 2016, headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. Raised $640M. Not affiliated with Google (different company, similar name).

The model: Groq runs Llama 3.3 70B — an open-source model released by Meta under a commercial licence. Groq does not own this model and did not train it. They provide the infrastructure to run it very fast.

Data policy: Groq states in their privacy policy that they do not train on API request data. Text you send via the API is processed to generate a response and is not retained for model training.

Why Eye Opener uses Groq specifically:
Eye Opener has no server, no database, and no backend. Running AI analysis ourselves would require storing your key and routing your document through our infrastructure — which contradicts everything this tool stands for. By using your own Groq account, the document goes from your browser directly to Groq under your account, governed by your agreement with Groq. Eye Opener is not in the chain.
Prefer not to use Groq? That is a reasonable choice. The analyzer requires AI to function — there is no version that works without sending text to an AI provider. Alternative: use ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini directly and paste your document with the prompt: "Summarise this Terms of Service, flag clauses that deviate from standard practice, and explain each one in plain English."

How long should Eye Opener remember your key?
Your key never leaves your browser. It is stored only in your browser (sessionStorage or localStorage depending on your choice above) and sent directly to api.groq.com when you analyze a document. Eye Opener never touches it.
